In shipping, recurring lanes are routes that freight companies take on a regular, continuous basis. These lanes often have specified start and finish points, as well as established times, resulting in more predictable operations, streamlined logistics, and stronger connections between carriers and shippers.
1. To create your recurring lane, go to Planner and select Recurring (Lanes).
2. After you've selected Recurring (Lanes), click on the blue Create Recurring button.
3. You will be prompted with a popup window, to enter details for your recurring lane.
4. Choose your Shipment type.
5. Select Recurring Lane (Create Template), and enter your Lane name.
6. You can manually enter shipment details,
7. Or you can copy shipment details from previous shipments by selecting Copy Previous Shipment and selecting it from the drop down list, or you can type in the shipment number.
8. But we will go step by step, from entering shipment details. Select I will enter shipment details and click on the Next Step.
9. Select your Pick Up stop and Delivery stop.
10. Select your Scheduled Date Type.
11. Select your Required Equipment type.
12. Set your Equipment action.
13. Enter your Pickup and Delivery number.
14. Select your Commodity, or add multiple.
15. Add your Quantity, Dimensions, Weight and Value. You are also able to add your stop notes.
16. You can also select one of the following options for your shipment.
17. Once you've enter your Pickup details on your delivery stop simply select your Commodity which will fill in details you've entered.
18. All you have left to do is to enter your stop notes and select one of the options for delivery. And hit Optimize Route.
19. Set your route options and click on the next step.
20. Set your Lane Start and End Date.
21. Set your Lead Time which will create a shipment prior to the day or days that you select on which day or days will recure.
22. Select you days on which will this shipment recur.
23. Once you've chosen your days, select the quantity or number of shipment that will recur on the selected day. If you set more than one, the system will automatically add addition time pickup field for you to fill in, this is if the selected option By Appointment is selected.
24. In case the selected option is First Come First Served, you will enter time range that would be able to pickup that load, so from x hours to x hours.
25. In case you've selected By Time Window for Pick Up, you'll also select your time range from x hours to x hours to be picked up, and this option works same for the delivery stop.
26. Enter your time stamp for how many days will this lane be done, so for example, every 7 days.
27. Set your delivery hours. You can also choose options such as First Come First Serve, By Appointment, By Time Window, the process is the same as from the Pickup point.
28. The System will show you how many shipments will be created, based on your preferences, and click on the Next Step.
29. The next step when crating Recurring Lane is the Billing Charges, here you will add them. First select your customer from the drop down list, and set your Reference ID.
30. You are able to assign it to a group, by selecting the group from the drop down menu.
31. The contact will be automatically prefilled based on the contact book from this customer.
32. So will the Payment Terms, which you can revert by selecting other payment term options.
33. Select your charges, enter quantity and rate and click on the blue checkmark button to save your charges.
34. You can add more charges simply by pressing +Add Another button, add them and click on the Next Step button.
35. You will have a Validation tab which will give you a general insight of your created shipment. After you've done validating, you can go back and make changes if needed, and you can then proceed on the next step.
36. In the Plan Ahead section, you will have multiple options to choose for this recurring lane. First one is to only create this recurring lane in the Planner, you can do that by selecting Create to Planner and click on the Create Recurring lane, which you can dispatch or offer it to a driver or a carrier from the planner.
37. If Auto Dispatch to a driver is selected. you will immediately dispatch this lane to a driver same as you would dispatch any other shipment. You will select your driver from the list.
38. Set your flat rate for this lane.
39. Set your starting location, which can be from the previous shipment, which is selected by default.
40. Or you can select a Custom Location, simply by checking the Custom Location and entering it.
41. Select one of the Dispatch Options, and click on the Create Recurring Lane.
42. If you want to dispatch this lane to a carrier, select Auto Dispatch to Carrier, and select the Carrier you want to dispatch this lane to from the list of your carriers.
43. Once the Carrier is selected you will select the contact, usually the one who is set from your Carrier profile, Contact Book.
44. Set your flat rate for this lane.
45. Set your custom starting location simply by entering the address.
46. Select one of the Dispatch Options and click Create Recurring Lane button.
47. In case you are offering this lane, select the Auto Offer option.
48. Select drivers you want to offer from the drop down list, you can choose multiple.
49. Set the radius from your starting location to search the drivers, and select the drivers that are Available and Next Available. If you choose the ones that are Next Available, you will have an option to set the # of hours that is prior to schedule pickup.
50. Select your carriers to make an offer to for the lane from the drop down list. You can choose one or multiple.
51. Set your offer amount.
52. When set, the system will automatically give you a net profit margin in %.
53. You can enter notes for a carrier.
54. Now you are able to set your offer options. You can expire the shipment after given minutes, hours, or days, if no bid was received.
55. In case the Carrier was awarded with a shipment and not confirmed it, you can retract that award when set certain option, such as some minutes, hours or days.
56. When enabled, you can set for the system to Auto Award First Lowest Amount after certain minutes, hours or days.
57. You can set a required minimum margin, if the bidders offer is below that placed margin, the system will not consider that bidder.
58. You also have options to auto repost after offer is expired, so that means in case no bid was received. And you have an option to Auto Dispatch After Award is Accepted, meaning when the bid is won by a carrier or a driver, it will automatically dispatch your load to the winner.
59. When you've set all the option for your Auto Offer option, click on the Create Recurring Lane button.
